Shopping and Scouting

Yesterday and today were relatively uneventful as we didn't explore any new town. Now, that's not to say we didn't get anything done. Yesterday I didn't do too much damage shopping. Got this dress and a pair of shoes.

The thing about the clothes here is that they are for a different climate than Texas (duh). I tried on several dresses but only settled on the one above in the end.

The dresses around here tend to be much shorter than what I'm used to. That's because the girls around here wear leggings with everything. They have to because today was a crisp 66 degrees! HELLO, IT'S JULY!! While I like things that are cute, I am an extremely practical shopper and refuse to buy something if I don't have an occasion for it already. I also get EVERYTHING on sale. As much as I liked the dress above, I just couldn't bring myself to buy it as I can't wear tights or leggings when I get back to Houston in mid-August and I don't particularly care for my tush to hang out.

Don't worry though, I did walk away with those shoes though.

I also managed to make it to TKMaxx (the British version of TJMaxx).

The store was much larger than your typical TJMaxx, but I left empty handed. I did find this extremely cute cake stand and matching tea pot. Unfortunately, I have a tea pot and two cake stands back at home and the practical shopper in me decided against it.

That was yesterday. Today, when the Husband got off work, we met up with the local scout group's Scout Master. We met up at a pub. Pubs here are like Starbucks. You can meet there just to meet and don't feel obligated to have a meal (as you would at a pub or restaurant in the States). It also is a pub, rather than a bar so it's a very social area. I suppose that's why "pub" is short for "public house." Anyways, back to the Scouts, we're in and we have our first meeting on Friday. I won't be here much longer but have offered some time I hope they take advantage of. The year picks back up shortly after I leave so the Husband will surely be active with the group.

I'm so glad we are getting around. I'm beginning to feel like a local and feel comfortable calling this my home.

Cheers!
