My name is Lena.
I'm a wife. Married almost a year (August 2010), my husband and I are setting up shop in Houston. Our wedding was fabulous and while I wouldn't change a thing, I would love to have another one (with the same guy of course)! I guess my status is full-time house wife...still getting used to the title but that's essentially what I do. Regardless of the title, I love my husband. He's such a supportive partner and brings out the best in me. He knows me better than I know myself and while I'll never admit it to his face, I love his nerdy jokes.
I'm a mom. I have a beautiful baby boy. He's a domestic short hair brown tabby cat named Falafel and boy is he cute and full of personality. Sometimes it's worth a little bit (or a lot depending on the situation) of early morning meowing to snuggle with such a needy feline.
I'm Jewish. As you will soon find out, this is a major part of my life. In fact, it turned my life around as I made a career path switch in college from going into Veterinary Medicine to the field of Jewish Communal work. The best decision I made (besides getting married) was to move to Mississippi for two years after college to work for a non profit organization called the Institute of Southern Jewish Life.
I'm a student. Currently, I am at the University of Houston pursuing my Masters in Public Administration and a Certificate in Non Profit Administration from my Alma Mater, Texas A&M.
I'm a baker. I recently took up the hobby of cake decorating. I only make my cakes with butter cream icing because I refuse to make anything that tastes as bad as fondant, no matter how good it looks. I don't hold anything back and use lots of flour, butter and sugar in my cakes. Yes, your mouth will drool.
I'm a triathlete. Alright, it was a short one, but I did it, I finished and I'm proud. I hope to do more in my future. I love activity and while I lack motivation to work out sometimes, I know how good it makes me feel. I love swimming and biking so if I have to run a bit to combine the two in one race, I'm game. I'm also a proud member of weight watchers and healthy eating. As I attempt to blog about the food I eat, I hope to hold myself more accountable for my choices.
So, that's the gist. Read some of my posts and you'll find out more. Send me an email if you have any questions and dont' hesitate to share me with your friends.
